Spron publishes ready articles to the Shopify blog you choose. Later updates use the same post.
Before you start
You need a Shopify store, a blog in that store, a Shopify Dev Dashboard app and an owner or admin role in Spron.
This setup uses Shopify's client credentials flow for a store in the same organisation as the app. It is not a general OAuth connection to an unrelated merchant's store.
Create the app
- Open Shopify Dev Dashboard and create an app for your store's organisation.
- Add read_content and write_content to the app's access scopes.
- Release the app version and install it on the store.
- Open the app's Settings and copy its Client ID and Client secret.
Keep the secret private. Do not paste it into the store's public theme code.
Connect the blog
- In Spron, open Integrations → Shopify → Connection.
- In Store address, enter your-store.myshopify.com. Use the permanent Shopify address, not your custom domain.
- Enter the Client ID and Client secret from the same app.
- Press Find blogs and choose the destination Blog.
- Press Connect Shopify.
What Spron fills
Spron fills the post title, body, summary, page address and featured image. You choose the destination blog during setup; no custom field mapping is needed.
The connection publishes ready articles. Check the selected blog before sending older ready articles in bulk.
Check and update
Open the first post on your store and check its text, image and URL. Press Republish in Spron to send later edits to that same post.
If a post has been deleted, use Rescan Shopify in Delivery history, then resend the post marked Missing. Check Shopify before retrying a delivery whose result is unclear.
