Keep article images

Save image files so they keep working after delivery.

SWritten by Spron TeamUpdated October 14, 2026

Spron-hosted image download links expire after one hour. A custom receiver or automation must save those files into permanent media storage.

What to save

The article can include a featured_image URL and an images list. Each image has an ID, URL, role, alt text, optional caption, width and height.

The formatted article body can also contain those image URLs.

Handle each delivery

  1. Download the images while their links are valid.
  2. Upload them to your CMS media library or permanent image storage.
  3. Save a mapping from each Spron image ID to its destination image and URL.
  4. Replace the temporary URLs in the article body with the permanent URLs.
  5. Set the destination's featured image and alt text where supported.
  6. Save the article only when the media handling has succeeded.

Reuse already saved images on retries rather than uploading another copy each time.

Using a built-in integration

Built-in publishing adapters and Spron CMS plugins handle media for their supported platforms. Check the platform guide for what is included; field mapping and cover-image support vary.

In Zapier or a custom workflow, choosing an image URL is not enough if the destination stores the link rather than the file. Check the destination action's behaviour.

Check after delivery

Open the published page and inspect the image URLs. They should point to your permanent media host, not an expiring Spron download address.

If a link has already expired, use a fresh delivery after fixing the receiver. Do not keep the expired URL as the permanent image address.
